Fisher Peak Chapter – Public Lands Day

September 28, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

MP 213.2 – High Meadow Trail Head Parking Lot

National Public Lands Days is a day to give back to public lands by getting involved in a service activity. The Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway Fisher Peak Chapter will lead a leisure trail maintenance hike on the High Meadow and the Fisher Peak Loop Trails by the Blue Ridge Music Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway close to Galax, Virginia. The service activity will involve clipping new growth along the two trails. It will probably take about two hours.  Meet us at the trail head gravel parking lot at 9 a.m. From the Blue Ridge Parkway (around mile post 213.2) turn onto Foothills Road (gravel) and drive approximately 200 yards to the trailhead parking lot. Bring water, gloves, sturdy shoes, and appropriate clothing for the weather. We have tools but you are welcome to bring your pair of loppers, hedge clippers or hand clippers.  RSVP to Aubrey Arrington at 276 236-4105 or reply to this email. Those who participate will receive a fee-free day coupon for a future visit to any national park.
